International Journal of LOW RADIATION is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the publication of research articles, review papers and technical notes in all domains related to low-dose radiation, among which biological and health effects in humans and the biota, in vitro and in vivo research on low radiation effects, regulatory and policy aspects, risk estimation and public perception.
The main focus of the Journal is on health and biological effects that occur at radiation levels comparable to those encountered in the natural environment, at the workplace or in the environment under normal or accidental situations when the doses incurred are low enough not to result in deterministic effects. In this context, it must be remembered that low radiation also means exposure to natural elevated radiation levels (doses and dose rates) in excess of current international recommended values and national regulatory dose and dose rate limits.
In addition to manuscripts dealing strictly with the effects of ionizing radiation, research papers on synergism between low radiation exposures and other environmental agents are expected. The International Journal of LOW RADIATION also welcomes manuscripts on uncertainty analyses of low radiation effects and on methods for reducing these uncertainties.
The International Journal of LOW RADIATION is intended to be a focal point and a forum for researchers, engineers, environment specialists, managers and policy makers for whom an in-depth knowledge of real, as opposed to assumed, low radiation effects and risks is necessary.
FORM OF THE PUBLICATION
IJND is published in English, initially four times a year, by Inderscience Publishers. It has strict refereeing criteria and highly professional standards. In addition to the publication of scientific articles, a review of publications (books and theses) and the announcement of international conferences pertaining to the topics addressed in the journal.
A fair balance will be sought between:
- special issues addressing specific topics, developing from a review package and in-depth and supplementary articles
- Issues of a more conventional structure blending articles addressing several topics.
